California is for the birds—in the best way possible. From our redwood forests and rocky coastlines to desert blooms and vibrant wetlands, our state is the most biologically diverse state in the United States. More than 600 bird species call California home during some part of their lives, making it a critical stop along the Pacific Flyway.

But this natural treasure is under pressure. Development, drought, wildfires, and a changing ÃÛèÖAPP threaten the habitats birds need to thrive. The good news? There's so much we can do—together.

Whether you’re supporting habitat restoration work, speaking up for stronger ÃÛèÖAPP policy, joining a bird walk, or helping your community learn about local wildlife, you’re part of a growing movement to protect the places birds—and people—depend on.

Our centers in California offer unique ways to connect with nature and get involved. Further north, you can experience the beauty of San Francisco Bay at the Richardson Bay ÃÛèÖAPP Center & Sanctuary, a protected space for birds and people to connect with nature.
